CONTROL

Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes a revolution in order to establish a dictatorship. – George Orwell

Now that most of the world is beholden to the People’s Republic of China for everything from a stable currency to natural resources, and keeping the rest of the world safe for their spheres of influence, the United States has been suddenly left in the dust. This, thanks to the haphazard and lame foreign policy of the Biden administration, and its refusal to lead in a rapidly crumbling world it once had unquestioned dominion over.

In previous posts in the past month I have explained how oil-rich nations in the Middle East, and others in South America have gone to China looking for stability and have been able to find comfort in the reserve currency of China’s Yuan. Forget the Dollar. The President of France just got back after his grovel-fest in Beijing with Xi Xinping, only to be heckled by other European leaders, who want the United States to step up for once. We didn’t. Emanuel Macron, France’s President doubled down on how important he felt China was to stability across Asia, Eastern Europe—especially Ukraine—and Russia, our enemy.

President Biden has not given a press conference, where he has actually had to take questions from actual reporters in a controlled environment (like the press room at the White House) since he has been in office. It is plain on the face of it that he is feeble-minded, and extremely prone to saying the wrong things, even in a controlled environment. President Barack Obama, under whom Biden served as Vice President from 2009 to 2017, personally voiced doubts about Joe’s abilities. Obama did say that Biden would surround himself with “good people”, but I have yet to see that defined, or if it has been what the evidence is of that goodness.

My guess is that there’s much puppetry afoot, and that Joe Biden is not the one in control—our title for today—and this is of overriding importance for our country, because if he’s not the one calling the plays who is? And this is exactly the point, no one at the White House will say. Biden walks away from questions, and others of his staff cover for him. He’s been in Ireland this week and he’s not taking questions there, either. Somehow, things are being run apace.

Even with this lack of accountability, he’s doing just as well in the polls as his predecessor Donald Trump was at this point in his presidency, and he couldn’t control anything he said to anyone, just like these days. Maybe Biden doesn’t need to say anything, and “silence is golden” after all.

The problem then becomes one of confidence, and competent leadership. The people seem to have none of the former, while no one seems to be demonstrating any of the latter.

Herein lies the problem for the rest of we freedom loving Americans, and any of those left over in the world who value what’s left of theirs: Many things are prescribed by governments for our own good, which are not by our own choice.

Narratives that are pounded at like war drums from organizations like lobbying concerns, the media, and government that work with one another in concert to dictate what is really important. You may disagree, but that really doesn’t matter—narratives can and will be bought—unless you have a competitive amount of money and other resources to drive the most palatable means of getting to an agreeable agenda.

Consider Electric Vehicles (EVs), now a hot topic all over the world as the best way to get to a “net zero” clean planet by 2050. The United States has practically mandated all newly produced cars in America to be electric by 2035. Never mind the fact that the largest fleet of vehicles in the country belong to the U.S. government, especially the Department of Defense, and they have said they can’t make that deadline under the current set of circumstances.

This has not caused the White House to back off their position one bit, however. Hell or high-water, we are going to get there, even if it means kowtowing (you’ll forgive the expression) to the Chinese who control the means of transport and production of much of the world’s resources to produce the batteries for EVs, even if they are behind Australia and Chile.

Think of life as a former world power for a moment. Many of our businesses have already moved off shore due to the cost of production in this country. Many of them to China, who is now our principal competitor in just about every field of production. They want to take, like they did Hong Kong, Taiwan and have threatened to do so by force. Our president has said he would not push to engage China’s warlike rhetoric. If China chooses to cut off either the transport or production of the lithium our government demands we have for EVs, where would that leave you, our economy, our ability to live a life free of government interference?

Suddenly a green revolution looks a lot more like an Orwellian nightmare of overcontrol. And that is just one aspect of the economy I have looked at. This ignores jobs of other kinds, means of production, effected banking and currency—remember large economies are now leaning to China, not us—and we have a new generation of young people who have never had to fight for anything of real national value in their lives.

To be a power means exercising power in the world. America has squandered opportunities due to poor choices and leadership.

The world, as we see, is not a peaceful place, but the people must be at least as wise as the clown show that engages them. C. S. Lewis said it best about government and others who try to lord influence over others, without the consent of those others:

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Remember: They’re all robbing us now. Whether it’s peace, finances, or liberty they are part of the same cabal.
